I absolutely loved A Is for Amy . The concept was a delightful surprise; an adult romance novella told through an A-to-Z children’s alphabet book format. It’s unusual, creative & quirky… Amy is relatable & funny, & as a mother trying to balance chaos, grief, & her own identity, she felt incredibly real….What I loved most was that this book seemed to have several underlying messages & depending on where you are in life as a reader, you may take away something completely different. Definitely worth a read & would make a perfect gift idea.

A Is for Amy by Steven Crandell is a romantic comedy novella about Amy, a young widowed mother of three trying to find her way back into desire, confidence, and choice after grief, betrayal, and exhaustion have narrowed her life.... It’s funny, messy, and deliberately intimate, a romance that is less about being rescued than about remembering that wanting something is allowed. I really liked the voice. It’s sharp, playful, and sometimes outrageous ... Crandell makes a bold choice with the alphabet structure... [it] gives the novella a quick, bright rhythm, almost like flipping through snapshots... I would recommend A Is for Amy to anyone who enjoys character-driven romance, especially stories about second chances after loss. This book has sass, it has crumbs on the floor, kids at the door, and a heart that keeps choosing to open.

The humor is wry, sometimes biting, but on the whole warmly affectionate. Despite the short size of the book, there’s room here for a couple of intriguing twists and turns, and time enough to get the reader invested in Amy’s emotional health, family struggles and joys, and most of all her unexpected and whimsical love story... It’s a delightful diversion for the reader who just wants a quick dose of sweetness and charm.

Join Amy on her hilarious yet utterly relatable journey of getting her groove back. Will her quest be a success, or should she just accept defeat? Steven Crandell weaves a story of a woman who finds herself newly widowed with three children to care for. Frequent meltdowns and bouts of depression are to be expected... However, Amy’s positive outlook and devotion to her children leave an endearing impression. She was relatable in her struggles, and her hilarious reflections made me love her even more. Unpredictable with a delicious plot twist, the storyline conveys a strong woman intent on grabbing her second chance by the horns and owning it. ...Amy is adamant that she is not a single mother, but an independent mother, which speaks volumes about her outlook on life, and readers can learn a lot from her. This book is for all the independent mothers who know that they deserve their happy ending.

Crandell crafts Amy’s story with both humor and insight, with quippy one-liners for readers to carry with them throughout their day.... A Is for Amy is a great choice for parents in need of a quick, fun read and a spark of romance ... Light-hearted, funny and warm throughout.
